Jessica Palermo (b. 1984, Nevada) is a self taught artist who lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. Palermo produces works that reflect upon the multiplicity of womanhood while arousing the visual collision of both individual moments in time and the passage of time. Greatly influenced by her role as a mother, her paintings are infused with a confessional narrative and move through mood and memory that contain a simultaneous sense of peace and contingency. Whether through representation or abstraction, Palermo consistently aims to create a conversation around how the body moves through nostalgic notions of time and place. She received her BA from UC Berkeley in 2002. Recent group exhibitions include The Disappearance of a Disappearance (2023), curated by Josh Lockman in Los Angeles, Brief Encounters (2023) at Good Naked in New York, Wintry Mix (2023) at Quarters Gallery in Los Angeles, and Open Call Collection (2022) at Partnership Editions in London. You can view more of her works at Partnership Editions and on her website.
