Michela Martello is an Italian-born artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Trained in Illustration at the European Institute of Design in Milan, she transitioned from a decade-long career in children’s book illustration to a full-time painting practice in 1993,

Her work blends symbolic imagery and cultural narratives, and has been exhibited internationally in museums and public collections including the MAAM Museum (Rome), Tainan Museum of Modern Art (Taiwan), and the Tsenpo Museum (Tibet). She has participated in several residencies, notably at Siao-Long Cultural Park (Taiwan), AIRK (Japan), and was the inaugural artist-in-residence at the Tsenpo Museum.

Martello is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Tristate Italian Art Prize (2023), the Merit Honor Prize from Tainan Cultural Affairs Bureau, and a feature in New American Paintings (#146). She collaborates with Pen + Brush (NYC), The Camp Gallery (Miami), and Galleria Giovanni Bonelli (Milan).
